The Family

God established two institutions to reach the world—the church and the family. Both are under attack today. Marriage is being redefined. Family structure is being ridiculed. Men are marginalized. Grandparents are pushed aside into retirement homes. Homes become child centered. Parents range from hovering to neglectful.

What does Scripture say about marriage? How are husbands and wives to relate to one another? What values should parents pass down to their children? How are children to respond to their parents at different ages? What is the biblical role of a grandparent?

When Jesus was asked a question about divorce (Mark 10:2), his response was, “Let’s go back to the beginning” (Mark 10:6). The goal of this series is to examine what Scripture says about marriage, divorce, husbands, wives, parents, children, and grandparents. We want to rediscover what God has called us to be and to do.
