Advent/Christmas

When it comes to the Christmas story, we often get our theology from Christmas cards or Christmas carols. We see Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, the shepherds, the wise men, the star, and the angels as actors in a Christmas pageant. We pose the figures in a Nativity set as if it was the group photo at the birth of Jesus. We lose sight of the fact that these are real people and real events.

During December each year, we focus on The Mystery of the Nativity where we examine the various actors in the Christmas story. I try to explain who they were and what God wants us to learn from their lives and experience.
